News from Zeem, sent when there is news worth sending.

The future of commercial transport is arriving. Just not in the way others see it.

01The New Zeem

A new website, and one name for everything we deliver.

This week we launched a new website, along with new language for how we describe Zeem.

The services we provide are now offered under one name: Electrification-as-a-Service. It covers everything a fleet needs to electrify at scale, on one agreement, one forecasted monthly spend, with one company accountable for the result.

We have also named the service that gets your trucks out the gate every morning. ZeemReady covers a site from design and energization through daily operation, for the life of the agreement.

Existing agreements are not affected.

Alongside the launch, we published Welcome to The New Zeem: Customer Edition. In it, Zeem tells its own story in the first person: what five years of running our own depots taught us, why no label in this market fit what we had built, and where we are taking it next. It was written for our customers only.

02Leadership

Five leaders, named to take electrification to scale.

This week we named five people to our leadership team. Al Barner becomes Senior Vice President of Fleet and Asset Management. Rick Eckert leads infrastructure and operations as Senior Vice President, and Roger Alvarez leads depot operations as Vice President. Olivier Roubi and David Nadsady have joined as Vice Presidents of Business Development and Marketing.

For your fleet, this is about scale. Our own depots are still central, and they are no longer the whole of it. With MyGrid, the power and the operation go to your yard as well. That takes a team that can develop a site, bring in power and run it every morning, alongside people who know what a truck costs a fleet across its whole life.

“Electrifying at scale, on a schedule, is a different business, and it is the one we are in. I have watched Al walk into customer meetings for two years and the respect in that room is already there. Rick has run our yards since the day the first one opened, and he is now taking that operation into our customers’ yards as well as our own.”

03Port of Long Beach

Phase one of our Port of Long Beach depot is energized.

We are building our depot inside the Port of Long Beach in two phases, and phase one has reached its biggest milestone: the site is energized. Utility power now reaches it from two separate switchyards, and the switch is ours to control from here. Energization is one of the longest steps in any depot build, and it is what lets phase two begin.

Phase two is megawatt charging for Class 8 trucks, and that build starts now. If you pass the site in the coming months, the construction you see is phase two under way.

The depot sits on Terminal Island, serving the two largest container ports in the country: the Port of Long Beach and the Port of Los Angeles. It is purpose-built for Class 8 drayage duty cycles, with megawatt charging and room to double capacity.

Site
2.44 acres
Power
15 MW
DC fast charging
84 CCS ports
Megawatt charging
24 ports
Capacity
500+ Class 8 a day
On site
30+ vehicles overnight

Work continues toward commissioning, and we will share the opening when it is set.

An electric bus on display at the NexMove launch

04The network

Why we are adding electric buses to our depots.

On October 6, at APTA TRANSform & EXPO in Chicago, VinFast announced a partnership with NexMove, a joint venture our founder Paul Gioupis co-founded with Frank Sherman, Chairman of Transportation Management Services (TMS). NexMove will offer VinFast electric buses to U.S. operators as a service: the bus, the charging, the maintenance and the operation, on one agreement.

It is the model we built Zeem around, in a new sector. Bus operators face the same problem truck fleets do: the vehicle is the easy decision, and the power, the yard and the daily operation are what stop a program. TMS brings more than 30 years running passenger transportation. Zeem brings the charging and depot operations we have run since 2021.

Why it matters to your fleet: a depot earns its keep when it runs full. More vehicles spread the cost of power and strengthen our hand when we buy it, which helps keep charging costs down for every fleet on site. And because a utility approves a new connection when it sees committed load behind the request, more vehicles on our network turn a site we want into a site we can build. The wider that network, the more of your routes it covers.

Trucks remain the core of what we do. The depots our truck customers use are the ones this work helps fill. Ahead of certified U.S. deliveries, NexMove plans to place demonstration buses at Zeem depots.

05New

Insurance joins the offering.

Insurance is now part of what Zeem offers, alongside trucks, power, operations, financing and grants. It starts with physical damage cover for the electric trucks you lease through us: the cover that repairs or replaces the truck itself if it is damaged, destroyed or stolen.

That matters more on electric trucks than on diesel. With little claims history to go on, much of the standard market has been slow to cover them, and repairs are specialized, parts can take longer to arrive, and the battery carries much of the vehicle’s value. Our program is built to close that gap.

The policy will be yours, placed through a licensed insurance agent, either your own or one introduced through the program. Terms are being finalized and we will share them as soon as they are set. In the meantime, your account team can answer questions.
